Whole raw acacia honeycomb in its wooden frame is honey at its most authentic: a fully filled comb, ready to cut, serve and enjoy straight from the hive.

What Is a Whole Acacia Honeycomb Frame?

This is a complete wooden frame filled with raw acacia honeycomb, harvested from the hive and left intact so you can enjoy the honey exactly as the bees stored it. The bees gather nectar from black locust blossoms (Robinia pseudoacacia), commonly known as acacia, creating pale golden honey with delicate floral notes, soft citrus flavour and a clean, lingering sweetness.

The frame contains natural beeswax cells filled with acacia honey and sealed by the bees. It is raw, unpasteurised and unblended, offering a memorable centrepiece for sharing, entertaining or a generous breakfast display.

After harvest, each frame is shrink-wrapped, protected with bubble wrap and packed in a presentation box for safe transport and storage.

How to Use a Whole Acacia Honeycomb Frame

A whole frame is particularly special when served at the table, allowing everyone to cut or spoon out a little honeycomb as they wish.

  • Use a clean knife to cut small pieces of comb from the frame, then serve them on warm toast, crumpets, porridge, Greek yoghurt, pancakes or fresh fruit.
  • Place pieces on a cheese board with Brie, Camembert or goat’s cheese, alongside walnuts and slices of pear or apple.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream, panna cotta or cheesecake for an effortless but impressive dessert.
  • Set the frame on a suitable display stand for a breakfast buffet, hotel, B&B or special gatherings.
  • Offer it at dinner parties or celebrations, allowing guests to cut or spoon their own small pieces of honey-filled comb.

Serving Tip

Keep the frame wrapped until you are ready to serve it, then cut the comb into small portions with a clean knife. The soft, delicate beeswax is 100% natural and entirely edible, with a gently chewy texture reminiscent of a light honey-infused chewing gum. As you chew, it releases the floral acacia honey held inside the cells; enjoy it whole, or discard any remaining wax once the honey has dissolved.

Where Does It Come From?

Our raw acacia honeycomb comes from Váraljai’s Honey Farm, a family-run apiary near Ásotthalom on the southern Great Hungarian Plain. Beekeeper László Váraljai keeps his own hives in a landscape of forests, meadows and open countryside.

The comb is carefully harvested from László’s own acacia-honey frames, giving clear traceability from hive to your table. Monika Gyenes visits the farm annually and remains in regular contact with László, selecting his honey for the Monika’s Kitchen range for its clean flavour and dependable provenance.

The raw acacia honey extracted from frames such as these is also used for our raw Hungarian acacia honey, awarded 2 Stars at the 2026 Great Taste Awards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a whole honeycomb frame?

Yes. This product is a complete wooden frame filled with raw acacia honeycomb, rather than pre-cut pieces. It is shrink-wrapped and carefully packed for delivery, ready for you to cut and serve at home.

Is the honeycomb edible?

Yes. Both the acacia honey and its natural beeswax comb are edible. The wax is soft and gently chewy, releasing honey as you eat it. You can swallow it or discard any remaining wax after the honey has dissolved.

For hand-cut honeycomb without the frame, choose our raw acacia honeycomb. For a smaller jar that combines honey and comb, try our acacia honey with honeycomb.

Is this monofloral acacia honey?

Yes. The honey in this frame comes from the same single-origin, monofloral acacia-honey harvest, made from nectar gathered from black locust blossoms. Discover more distinctive floral varieties in our single-flower honey collection.

Is this honey raw and unpasteurised?

Yes. The honeycomb is harvested in its natural form and contains raw, unpasteurised acacia honey. Nothing is added or blended in. Explore our wider raw honey collection for our full range of Hungarian honeys.

Can I give acacia honeycomb to a baby?

No. Like all honey, it is not suitable for children under 12 months of age.

How is this acacia honeycomb tested?

This Acacia Honeycomb has been independently analysed by QSI. The tested sample complied with the EU Honey Directive requirements and recorded a moisture content of 16.4%, an HMF value of 3.9mg/kg and diastase activity of 18.6 Schade units.

The HMF result is well below the 40mg/kg maximum applicable to honey, while the diastase result is consistent with fresh, carefully handled honey. Its fructose-to-glucose ratio was 1.52, consistent with the naturally slow crystallisation associated with acacia honey, and sucrose was just 0.1g/100g. View the independent QSI analysis.
