Quality Guarantee & Product Authenticity

At Best of Hungary, quality begins with knowing where a product comes from and who made it. We work directly with family producers, artisan food makers, farms and boutique wineries, and we place particular emphasis on provenance, traceability and first-hand product knowledge. Where a product is presented as Hungarian, we expect its origin and production story to support that claim.

Our founders, Monika Gyenes and Zoltan Kopacsi, are personally involved in selecting much of the range, visiting producers, tasting products and building long-term relationships with the people behind them. Independent awards and third-party recognition provide additional evidence of quality where relevant, while our UK warehouse and delivery procedures are designed to protect products from arrival through to dispatch.

Direct Sourcing & Traceable Provenance

Direct relationships with producers are central to how Best of Hungary operates. Many of our suppliers are family-owned farms, specialist food businesses, social co-operatives and independent wineries with whom we have worked for years.

Where possible, we visit farms, production sites, vineyards and cellars in Hungary to understand first-hand how ingredients are grown, how animals are raised and how products are made. This gives us a clearer view of the raw materials, production methods and regional traditions behind the products we stock.

Traceability matters to us. We retain and check product labels, producer information, batch details, and certifications where applicable, and customers are welcome to contact us if they would like more information about a particular product's provenance.

Personally Selected by Our Founders

Best of Hungary is a family business, and our range is curated rather than assembled from an anonymous wholesale catalogue.

Monika Gyenes focuses particularly on Hungarian food, provenance and product development. Her selection process includes regular producer visits, first-hand tasting and kitchen testing, and collaboration with producers on products ranging from raw honey and paprika to Mangalitza charcuterie and black truffle specialities.

Zoltan Kopacsi leads much of the Hungarian wine selection. His wine education, visits to vineyards and cellars across Hungary, and direct relationships with winemakers help shape a portfolio focused on distinctive Hungarian grape varieties, regional styles, and wines with a clear sense of place, such as the dessert wines of Tokaj.

Independent Quality Recognition

We do not rely only on our own judgement. Independent assessment provides an additional layer of reassurance and helps us benchmark selected products against respected industry standards. You can explore more of Best of Hungary’s press coverage, awards and independent recognition.

Many foods in our range have received recognition at the Great Taste Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food. Where possible, individual product pages identify the award and link to the official listing so customers can verify the recognition for themselves.

Our wine portfolio has also received independent recognition through organisations including the Decanter World Wine Awards and the International Wine Challenge. These awards do not replace our own selection process, but they provide useful external corroboration of quality.

Food Safety, Storage & Warehouse Standards

Our Aberystwyth warehouse is operated as a professional food-storage and fulfilment facility. Best of Hungary holds a Five-Star Food Hygiene Rating from Ceredigion County Council.

We store and handle products according to their individual requirements, with particular care for chilled and temperature-sensitive foods. Our warehouse team follows established handling and packing procedures designed to keep products in suitable condition until dispatch.

Chilled Product Handling & UK Delivery

Chilled products such as caviar, charcuterie and foie gras are packed by hand using refrigerated cold packs and thermally insulated packaging designed to maintain suitable transit conditions for 48–72 hours.

Orders are dispatched using Royal Mail Tracked 24 delivery service so customers can follow their parcel from our warehouse to delivery. For full information about dispatch times, delivery areas, chilled packaging and tracking, please see our UK Delivery & Shipping page.

Authenticity of Best of Hungary & Monika’s Kitchen Products

Best of Hungary Ltd is a registered UK company, and the Best of Hungary and Monika’s Kitchen identities are used to distinguish products selected, imported or developed for our range.

Monika’s Kitchen products are selected or developed in collaboration with named producers and are intended to provide clear provenance from producer to finished product. Where relevant, product pages identify the producer, ingredients, origin, certifications and independent awards so customers can assess the evidence behind individual claims.

Our brand, Monika's Kitchen, and our store identity are protected by registered UK trademarks (UK00003957686). Our trademarks help protect our brand identity, but we regard authenticity as something demonstrated through provenance, producer relationships, and transparent product information rather than branding alone.

Organic Certification

Best of Hungary is certified by Soil Association Certification for the handling, storage, importing and trade of organic products in our range. Our current Soil Association trading schedule identifies the individual food products we are licensed to market as organic, alongside certified organic wine categories.
