Herbal Tea & Naturally Caffeine-Free Infusions
Our herbal tea collection brings together carefully selected botanical infusions, traditional Transylvanian herbal teas and distinctive naturally caffeine-free and low-caffeine alternatives made with roasted buckwheat and dried coffee cherries respectively.
Organic Herbal Tea from Transylvania
At the heart of the collection are organic herbal teas from Transylvania, produced by the family behind Szent Ábrahámi in Székely Land.
The family grows herbs in the one-hectare garden of a historic manor in Szentábrahám and creates artisan teas using whole flowers and leaves. This gives the dried botanicals a visibly recognisable character and allows their natural aroma, colour and flavour to remain central to the infusion.
- Chamomile tea: a gentle floral infusion made from carefully dried chamomile flowers.
- Nettle tea: a fresh, green herbal infusion with a distinctive botanical character.
- Primrose tea: a delicate floral tea made from carefully dried primrose.
- Sea buckthorn tea: a unique tea made from dried sea buckthorn berries
The teas are produced on a small scale with a strong emphasis on organic cultivation, traditional herbal knowledge and careful handling from garden to finished blend.
Personally Selected by Monika
Founder Monika Gyenes chose Szent Ábrahámi because the family business reflects many of the qualities she looks for when sourcing food and drink: organic production, small-scale craftsmanship, strong regional identity and direct family involvement.
Cascara Tea – A Zero-Waste Coffee Cherry Infusion
Cascara tea is made from the dried outer skin of the coffee cherry, the fruit that surrounds the coffee bean.
At coffee farms, this part of the fruit is often discarded. At Finca Bányai, carefully harvested coffee cherries are cleaned and sun-dried so the fruit itself can be turned into a distinctive infusion, creating an additional use for the crop and reducing waste.
Our cascara comes from a Hungarian-owned micro-plantation in Costa Rica whose work also includes research into more sustainable and resilient approaches to coffee cultivation, and this zero-waste product is a shining example of their methods.
Soba Tea – Roasted Tartary Buckwheat
Our soba tea offers another distinctive alternative to conventional tea.
Also known as sobacha or buckwheat tea, it is made from roasted Tartary buckwheat seeds and produced in Hungary by 24 Tea, a small independent business founded by friends Liuba and Anna.
Soba tea is naturally caffeine-free, gluten-free, vegan and free from additives and preservatives, while the roasted kernels can be re-brewed several times and eaten after steeping.
Great Taste Award-Winning Alternative Teas
Both our Bányai Cascara and 24 Tea Soba Tea received 1 Star at the 2026 Great Taste Awards by the Guild of Fine Food.
Expert panels judge Great Taste products blind, with aroma and flavour as the central considerations.

How to Brew Herbal Tea
Brewing varies by plant or ingredient, so always follow the instructions on the individual pack.
Most loose herbal teas are steeped in freshly boiled water for several minutes, allowing the flowers, leaves and herbs time to release their aroma and flavour.
Cascara is typically steeped at around 90–95°C, while soba tea can be brewed for approximately 3–5 minutes and re-steeped several times.
