Hungarian Chocolate

Hungarian Chocolate & Confectionery

Hungarian chocolate combines historic confectionery traditions with distinctive flavours that have become part of everyday life and festive gifting across Hungary.

Our collection brings together some of the country’s best-known chocolate specialities, from elegant Stühmer pralines and cherry liqueur chocolates to nostalgic favourites such as Sport szelet and Túró Rudi.

Historic Hungarian Chocolates from Stühmer

At the heart of the collection is Stühmer, one of the most historic names in Hungarian chocolate and confectionery.

The company traces its origins to 1868, when master confectioner Frigyes Stühmer established his business in Hungary. Over the following decades, Stühmer became one of the country’s best-known chocolate makers, renowned not only for its confectionery but also for its distinctive packaging and elegant gift presentation.

Today the revived Stühmer brand continues to produce a wide range of premium chocolates that combine traditional Hungarian favourites with modern flavour combinations.

Personally Selected by Monika

Founder Monika Gyenes selected the Stühmer products in our range to represent some of the most recognisable and distinctive Hungarian chocolate traditions.

She chose chocolates with strong cultural ties, memorable flavours and particular appeal as gifts or nostalgic favourites.

Konyakmeggy – Hungarian Cherry Liqueur Chocolates

Konyakmeggy is one of Hungary’s best-known chocolate specialities: a whole sour cherry combined with cherry brandy liqueur and enrobed in dark chocolate.

Its balance of rich chocolate, fruit and alcohol gives it a distinctly grown-up character and makes it a particularly popular choice for gifting and celebrations.

Szilvás Betyár – Chocolate Covered Prunes

Szilvás Betyár is another distinctly Hungarian speciality, combining chocolate with the deep, fruity character of dried plums.

Százszorszép Pralines

Százszorszép pralines represent the more refined side of the Stühmer range, combining elegant presentation with a selection of filled chocolate bonbons designed for sharing and gifting.

They work particularly well as a present for birthdays, celebrations, Christmas or as a more distinctive alternative to mainstream chocolate boxes.

Narancsvirág – Dark Chocolate Orange

Narancsvirág combines dark chocolate with the aromatic freshness of orange, creating a classic flavour pairing with a distinctly elegant character.

The balance of citrus and dark chocolate makes it especially suitable after dinner, with coffee, or as part of a chocolate tasting selection.

Budapest Chocolate – A Hungarian Gift

Budapest Chocolate is one of the most giftable products in the collection, combining premium Hungarian chocolate with packaging inspired by the country’s capital.

It makes a great present for Hungarian friends and family, or anyone looking for a food gift on their return from Budapest or Hungary.

Retro Hungarian Chocolate Favourites

Some simple favourites have been part of everyday life for generations, and our selection reflects that.

Sport szelet is one of Hungary’s most recognisable retro chocolate bars, loved for its distinctive rum aroma-infused flavour.

Túró Rudi is an equally iconic Hungarian treat, combining a lightly sweetened curd cheese filling with a chocolate coating.

Expanding into Central European Chocolate

As Best of Hungary gradually expands its range to include selected premium and popular foods from the wider Central European region, chocolate was a natural next step.

We have therefore added Mozart chocolates to complement the Hungarian collection, reflecting another famous Central European confectionery tradition.
