Convenient Soba Cha tea bags with roasted Tartary buckwheat, a naturally caffeine-free Japanese-style infusion ready in just 3–5 minutes, hot or iced.

What Is Soba Cha Tea?

Soba Cha is a traditional Japanese-style drink made by infusing roasted Tartary buckwheat. These convenient tea bags make it particularly easy to enjoy its smooth, toasted and gently nutty flavour at home, at work or while travelling.

Each tea bag contains roasted buckwheat kernels, which create a clear golden infusion with a comforting roasted aroma. It is naturally gluten-free and caffeine-free, making it a lovely choice whenever you would prefer a drink without caffeine.

How to Use Soba Cha Tea Bags

These Soba Cha tea bags are made for easy everyday brewing. Enjoy a warming cup in the morning, an aromatic afternoon drink, or a naturally caffeine-free evening infusion. The clean, toasted flavour is equally delicious chilled over ice during warmer weather.

Serve it simply, add a little plant milk for a mellow, creamy cup, or sweeten it gently with a spoonful of raw honey.

How to Brew Soba Cha Tea Bags

  1. Place one Soba Cha tea bag in a cup.
  2. Pour over 150–200ml of boiling water.
  3. Leave to infuse for 3–5 minutes, depending on your preferred strength.
  4. Remove the tea bag and serve.

Each tea bag can be re-brewed up to 3 times, allowing one box of 15 tea bags to make up to 45 cups.

Serving Tip: For iced Soba Cha, brew the tea as above, allow it to cool, then chill in the refrigerator. Serve over ice with lemon for a clean, refreshing summer drink.

Where Does It Come From?

Soba Cha has long been enjoyed in Japan, where roasted buckwheat is prized for its inviting aroma and satisfying, nutty character. It is traditionally served hot, but its smooth flavour also makes a particularly refreshing iced drink.

24 Tea was created by friends Liuba and Anna to make the buckwheat tea they loved easier to enjoy every day. Their Natural Soba Tea bags offer a simple, portioned way to brew roasted Tartary buckwheat without measuring loose seeds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Soba Cha tea contain caffeine?

No. Soba Cha is naturally caffeine-free, making it a useful alternative to conventional tea or coffee at any time of day.

Can I drink Soba Cha tea in the evening?

Yes. As it is naturally caffeine-free, Soba Cha is an excellent evening drink for anyone avoiding caffeine later in the day.

What does Soba Cha tea taste like?

Soba Cha has a smooth, toasted and gently nutty flavour. Its comforting roasted character is more savoury and cereal-like than floral or fruity tea.

Can I make iced Soba Cha tea?

Yes. Brew the tea bag as normal, allow it to cool, then chill it in the refrigerator or pour it over ice. Lemon works especially well with its clean, toasted flavour.

How many cups can I make from one tea bag?

Each tea bag can be brewed up to 3 times. With 15 tea bags in each box, this gives up to 45 cups of Soba Cha tea.

What is the difference between Soba Cha tea bags and loose buckwheat tea?

Both are made from roasted Tartary buckwheat and have the same characteristic nutty flavour. Soba Cha tea bags are the convenient, portioned option for quick brewing at home or on the go. For loose roasted seeds that you can measure yourself, re-brew and eat afterwards, choose our loose buckwheat tea.
