What Is Hot Honey?

Hot honey is a swicy condiment made by infusing raw Hungarian acacia honey with chilli peppers. The naturally mild, floral character of acacia honey gives the chilli warmth a smooth, rounded base, creating a versatile drizzle with more depth than a standard chilli sauce.

It is made with raw, coarsely filtered, unpasteurised acacia honey, with no artificial additives or preservatives. Use a little for a gentle glow of heat, or be more generous when you want its sweet chilli character to take centre stage.

How to Use Hot Honey

Hot honey is an easy way to bring a glossy sweet-heat finish to savoury food.

• Drizzle over pepperoni pizza, flatbreads or cheesy garlic bread just before serving.
• Use as a sticky glaze for fried or roast chicken, chicken tenders, pork chops, sausages and roasted vegetables.
• Toss with fried halloumi, pasta or roasted squash for a delicious sweet-and-spicy contrast.
• Stir into marinades, vinaigrettes or barbecue sauces for a rounded chilli sweetness.
• For a bolder variation of our honey and mustard chicken tray bake, replace 1 tablespoon of the honey with hot honey, then adjust to taste.

Cook’s Tip

Add hot honey towards the end of cooking, or drizzle it over the finished dish. This keeps its floral sweetness bright and stops the honey from catching or burning in a hot pan.

Where Does It Come From?

Our hot honey is made with acacia honey from Váraljai’s Honey Farm, a family-run apiary near Ásotthalom on the southern Great Hungarian Plain. Beekeeper László Váraljai keeps his own hives and harvests the honey raw, coarsely filtered and without pasteurisation.

The chilli peppers come from Szeged, a city with a long and celebrated connection to Hungarian paprika and chilli production. Monika selected this combination for its balance of honey flavour and satisfying chilli warmth.

Storage: Store at room temperature in a cool, dry place. Use a clean, dry spoon and close the lid firmly after use. Natural crystallisation may occur over time; stand the jar in gently warm water to soften if needed.
