What Is a Glass Caviar Bowl?

This clear glass caviar bowl is a practical, attractive way to serve fine roe at the right temperature. It has two pieces: an outer glass holder for crushed or shaved ice and a removable upper cone for the caviar itself.

Measuring 9cm high and 11cm in diameter, it is sized for a generous shared serving of up to 100g. The raised inner dish keeps the caviar cool without allowing it to sit directly on melting ice, helping preserve its delicate texture and clean flavour.

It is an elegant choice for serving caviar at a dinner party, celebratory meal or special aperitif.

How to Use a Caviar Bowl

Prepare the bowl shortly before serving, so the ice remains crisp and the caviar stays properly chilled. For the best result, place the empty bowl in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes before assembling it. Do not put it in the freezer, as sudden extreme temperature changes can stress fine glassware.

1. Fill the outer glass holder with crushed or shaved ice to create a stable ice bed.
2. Place the upper glass cone securely over the ice.
3. Spoon the caviar into the upper cone, transferring only the portion you intend to serve.
4. Set the bowl in the centre of the table with blinis, crème fraîche and suitable spoons.

Do not place caviar directly on the ice. The raised upper cone keeps it chilled, dry and beautifully presented above the melting ice.

A Simple Serving Tip

Use a mother-of-pearl caviar spoon for serving. Mother-of-pearl is flavour-neutral, letting the buttery, lightly saline character of fine roe come through clearly.
