£14.90

Order by 2pm Monday for next day delivery.

A classic Egri Bikavér from the award-winning Bolyki Winery, this powerful Hungarian Bull's Blood showcases the best side of this legendary red wine.

An attractive, deep ruby colour. The spicy nose shows a core of dark stewed fruit and a hint of chocolate aromas. A rich and chewy palate with intense black pepper spice, followed by dark cherry and blackcurrant notes and a touch of vanilla. Well balanced with a lively acidity and a tight tannic structure, the sip culminates in a long mineral finish.

What is Egri Bikavér?

Egri Bikavér, famously known as “Bull’s Blood of Eger,” is Hungary’s most iconic red wine and a symbol of the country’s winemaking heritage.

Produced exclusively in the Eger wine region of northern Hungary, Egri Bikavér is a carefully crafted blend that must include at least three varieties, with the native Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch) forming the backbone, which is complemented by both indigenous and international grapes.

Recognised under the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), it is often compared to Bordeaux blends with a uniquely Hungarian identity, delivering a dynamic yet refined expression that is the perfect choice for red wine lovers and connoisseurs.

Food Pairing

A great accompaniment to rich meat dishes such as paprikash chicken, beef stew and lamb chops, as well as traditional Hungarian classics like goulash soup, for an authentic experience. You can also pair it with semi-hard cheese like Baracskai ash cheese to bring out the best from both.
