What Are Animal Fats?
Animal fats are natural fats extracted through a process called rendering, which involves gently heating meat to separate pure fat from the tissue. For example, beef tallow is rendered from beef fat, while pork lard is derived from pork fat. We also offer lardo, which is cured pork fatback, and our bacon is crafted to showcase the perfect balance of meat and fat, ideal for those who enjoy a meaty experience.
Our animals are grass-fed and allowed to roam freely in a National Park on the Hungarian Great Plain. This healthy lifestyle results in a range of cooking fats that are bursting with natural goodness.
Our pork comes from the heritage Mangalitza breed, known as the "Wagyu of the pork world," celebrated for its exceptionally marbled, fatty meat that produces creamy lard.
How to Use?
Animal fats excel at high-heat cooking thanks to their high smoke points.
Beef tallow can withstand temperatures of up to 400°F (204°C), making it ideal for deep frying, roasting vegetables, and creating the crispiest roast potatoes imaginable. Its rich, savoury flavour is excellent for searing steaks, delivering an intense beefy experience.
Pork lard, with its mild flavour and silky texture, is great for sautéing and baking, perfect for making flaky pie crusts and tender biscuits.
Thinly sliced lardo makes a luxurious garnish that melts over baked fish or chicken, infusing the meat with a rich, smoky aroma while keeping it juicy and tender.
Meanwhile, bacon is a fantastic choice for frying eggs or cooking vegetables, adding richness and depth to dishes.
Healthy Choice
Animal fat from quality sources provides several health benefits.
Grass-fed tallow is rich in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), omega-3 fatty acids, and fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. Regular consumption may support immune function, improve bone health, and promote cellular repair.
Lard contains a high amount of monounsaturated fats—the same heart-healthy fats found in olive oil—and has zero trans fats.
Due to their high levels of saturated and monounsaturated fats, these fats remain stable at high temperatures and do not oxidise or create harmful compounds like refined seed oils. This makes them a healthier choice for cooking and frying compared to many store-bought alternatives.
Choose grass-fed animal fat and enjoy minimally processed, nutrient-dense, and naturally flavorful cooking fats that our ancestors relied on for generations.
