Beef tallow is rendered beef fat sourced from free-range, grass-fed cows. Our beef dripping has a rich flavour, making it a healthy choice for cooking.

What is beef tallow?

Our beef tallow is pure, rendered fat from native Grey cattle that roam freely on the Hungarian Great Plain. This results in a premium-quality, all-natural product that contains no additives or preservatives. The creamy beef dripping has a clean aroma and delicious savoury flavour, making it a versatile addition to your pantry.

How can I use it?

  • Beef tallow has a smoke point of over 200°C, making it an excellent option for high-heat cooking. It's perfect for frying crispy chips, traditionally roasting potatoes, or searing steaks to achieve a delightful crust.
  • The richness of beef dripping adds depth of flavour to sautéed dishes, and it can be used to caramelise vegetables.
  • Additionally, beef suet works beautifully in baking pie crusts and biscuits, creating flaky, tender pastries.

Health Benefits

  • Beef dripping is minimally processed and stable at high temperatures, making it a healthier alternative to refined vegetable oils.
  • Grass-fed beef fat has an ideal ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids. It is also rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, as well as various antioxidants and minerals.
  • Compared to regular lard, beef tallow is naturally lower in cholesterol, and its high stearic acid content can lead to smaller increases in blood cholesterol levels.
  • Tallow's fatty acid profile closely resembles the natural oils found in human skin. It can be used as a deeply moisturising facial balm, body butter, or intensive treatment for dry patches, such as elbows and heels.
  • Its rich texture absorbs well without leaving a heavy or greasy feeling, making it perfect for those seeking a simple, minimal-ingredient skincare solution.

Szomor Farm

Established in 1989 within the Kiskunsági National Park, this farm is located in the former floodplain of the Danube River and is part of the second-largest saline steppe in the Hungarian Great Plain.

The animals are allowed to roam freely and graze on a natural diet in this unique grassland. Raised outdoors at a slow pace, their free-range lifestyle leads to healthy and fit specimen.

The charcuterie is expertly crafted using traditional recipes and the finest local ingredients, resulting in a distinctive range of authentic grey cattle delicacies that showcase the best of this native breed.
