ST. ANDREA Egri Bikavér Grand Superior 'Hangács' 2018

This full-bodied single-vineyard Bikavér from St Andrea's Hangács cru is a blend of five red grape varieties.

Deep ruby colour. A complex nose of red and black cherries with supporting oak notes of chocolate and coffee. The wonderfully soft and concentrated palate shows a combination of fresh fruit, gentle spice and toastiness from the barrel ageing. A poised vintage with a firm acidic backbone and ripe tannins. This beautiful wine is perfect for drinking now and has excellent ageing potential.


Food Pairing

An ideal wine for steaks, grills and semi-hard cheese like Baracskai. Try with a rich mushroom dish or a spicy Moroccan stew. 

Serving temperature: 15-17°C

Grape varieties: Kékfrankos 31%, Cabernet franc 27%, Merlot 24%, Pinot noir 12%, Kadarka 6%

Soil type: Brown forest soil with clay, rhyolite tuff in the deep layers

Fermentation: Stainless steel tank and oak barrels 

Ageing: 16 months in oak barrels
