Soproni Beer is a classic Hungarian lager made with 100% Hungarian barley, smooth malt and gentle hop bitterness, brewed in Sopron since 1895.

What Is Soproni Beer?

Soproni Beer, also known as Soproni Klasszikus, is a traditional pale Hungarian lager made with water, barley malt, corn grits and hops. Its medium body, soft malty character and clean, gently bitter finish make it an easy, refreshing choice for relaxed drinking.

The 100% Hungarian barley is central to its identity, giving the beer its familiar rounded malt character. Delicate hop notes and a smooth, lightly creamy finish keep the flavour balanced rather than heavy.

How to Enjoy Soproni Beer

Serve Soproni well chilled with straightforward savoury food: grilled sausages, burgers, schnitzel, salty snacks or a generous sharing board. Its clean malt-and-hop balance is particularly good with food that has plenty of crunch, spice or richness.

For a classic Hungarian pairing, enjoy it with freshly fried lángos, topped with sour cream and grated cheese. The crisp lager is a lovely counterpoint to the warm, indulgent flatbread.

Where Does It Come From?

Soproni Beer takes its name from Sopron, the historic western Hungarian city where beer has been brewed under the Soproni name since 1895. The brewery is one of Hungary’s oldest and most recognisable beer names, and the classic green can remains a familiar sight at gatherings, sporting events and summer barbecues across the country.

Alongside this traditional lager, Soproni also makes a more hop-forward Soproni IPA and a fruit-led Soproni Sour Cherry Beer.
