Organic Sweet Paprika powder with vivid crimson colour and naturally fruity red-pepper flavour for goulash, paprikash and everyday family cooking.

What Is Organic Sweet Paprika?

Organic Sweet Paprika is a finely milled Hungarian red-pepper spice with a mild, rounded flavour, natural fruitiness and no chilli heat. It is a versatile, non-spicy seasoning, giving food rich colour and ripe red-pepper depth without making it hot.

This 100g pouch contains certified organic Hungarian sweet paprika, made from organically cultivated red peppers and packed in a convenient resealable stand-up pouch. It is an excellent choice for cooks looking for authentic Hungarian ingredients and a family-friendly spice for everyday meals.

How to Use Organic Sweet Paprika

Organic sweet paprika is one of the most useful spices in a Hungarian kitchen. Its mild character allows you to use it generously, bringing colour, aroma and a rounded red-pepper flavour to everyday food as well as traditional recipes.

  • Use it as the defining spice in traditional Hungarian goulash, where it gives the broth its deep red colour and distinctive flavour.
  • Add it generously to chicken paprikash, creamy sauces, stews and soups.
  • Stir it into onions and fat before making bean dishes, lentils, tomato sauces, lecsó or paprika potatoes.
  • Use it in marinades and rubs for chicken, pork, fish or roast vegetables.
  • Sprinkle over eggs, potatoes, hummus, devilled eggs or buttered toast just before serving.
  • Blend with a little hot paprika when you would like the same red-pepper flavour with more warmth.

Cook's Tip

Paprika's colour and flavour develop beautifully in oil, butter or lard. Warm it briefly with onions or other aromatics, then add liquid promptly. Avoid prolonged high heat, which can scorch paprika and create bitterness.

Where Does It Come From?

Our Organic Sweet Paprika is made by Rubin Paprika in the Szeged region of southern Hungary. Rubin works directly with selected local growers, choosing organically cultivated peppers for their colour, flavour and suitability for drying.

The peppers are traditionally sun-dried, then finely milled to create a smooth powder that disperses easily through food.

Monika selected Rubin for the Monika's Kitchen range because its paprika performs beautifully in real cooking: vivid in colour, fresh in flavour and reliable enough to use generously.

Freshly Milled and Laboratory-Tested

Rubin Paprika mills this organic sweet paprika to order, then promptly packs it into a convenient resealable stand-up pouch. This helps protect its vivid colour, fresh aroma and fine texture from the start, while making it easy to store neatly in a spice cupboard between uses.

Rubin's in-house laboratory, directed by Dr Arnold Koncsek, PhD, provides technical quality oversight.

Colour intensity is measured using the recognised ASTA system. The tested 2026 production batch for this Organic Sweet Paprika 100g recorded a value of 171 ASTA, an exceptional result for red colour intensity. The certificate is batch-specific and records the value at the time of testing.

"An absolutely incredible vibrant red colour on this paprika. The paprika has a lovely fresh, fruity pepper flavour, and is equally delicious when cooked, delivering a fantastic colour on the finished dish, too. A lovely example."

Frequently Asked Questions

Is organic sweet paprika certified organic?

Yes. This product is made from certified organic Hungarian sweet peppers and carries the EU organic mark on its pouch. Best of Hungary is also certified by the Soil Association to import and distribute organic products in the UK. View our current Soil Association organic certificate.

Is organic sweet paprika unsmoked?

Yes. This is a 100% pure, unsmoked red-pepper powder, made for cooks who want sweet, fruity paprika flavour without wood-smoke notes. It is mild and contains no chilli heat, making it an excellent non-spicy paprika for kids, family meals and recipes where paprika should be the main flavour.

What does organic Hungarian paprika taste like?

Expect a mild, fragrant red-pepper flavour with gentle sweetness, a subtle earthiness and a clean finish. It is more complex than simply adding colour, which is why it works so well in slow-cooked dishes.

Is this paprika freshly milled?

Yes. Rubin Paprika mills the paprika to order, then promptly packs it into the resealable pouch. As with all ground spices, its colour and aroma are best protected by keeping the pouch tightly closed and away from light, heat and moisture.

Does organic sweet paprika contain additives?

No. It contains only organically grown sweet paprika, with no additives, artificial flavours, colours or preservatives.

Is organic sweet paprika the same as Spanish pimentón?

Both are ground red-pepper spices, but they reflect different traditions. This premium unsmoked paprika leads with clean, fruity red-pepper flavour, while many Spanish pimentón styles have a more pronounced smoke character. Read our guide to Hungarian and Spanish paprika for a fuller comparison.
