Túrós Csusza - Cottage Cheese Pasta
Túrós csusza is a classic Hungarian pasta dish made with creamy cottage cheese. This is a quick and simple recipe to create an indulgent comfort food. Topped with crunchy bacon bits, it is a hearty meal full of delicious smoky flavour, or you can serve it with icing sugar instead for a sweet vegetarian treat.
- Cut the bacon into small cubes, then place in a large skillet and cook on medium heat until the fat is rendered and the bacon becomes brown and crispy. Remove the bacon pieces and set them aside.
- Break the lebbencs pasta by hand into smaller pieces, then cook it in salted water for 8-10 minutes. Drain and then add the pasta to the skillet with the bacon fat.
- Add the cottage cheese and around half of the sour cream to the skillet. Mix it all together and heat on medium until the pasta is warm and some of the cottage cheese begins to melt.
