Traditional Hungarian boneless Easter ham (húsvéti kötözött sonka) from prime cuts of pork leg, cured and oak smoked for an intense aroma and meaty texture.
Boiled ham is a traditional Easter meal, and this smoked pork shoulder ham makes the perfect centrepiece for your festive table. It is delicious on its own, or serve it with horseradish and hard-boiled eggs for a truly authentic Hungarian experience. Sliced thinly, it is a great addition to sandwiches or try as a gourmet pizza topping.
Cooking recommendation:
Before cooking, let the ham soak overnight.
Place in cold water, boil, and cook for 15-20 minutes. Drain and replace the cooking water, then add one peeled brown onion, 2-3 dried bay leaves, and 5-6 black peppercorns. Let it simmer on low heat until the meat is soft and tender. Let it cool inside the saucepan. Afterwards, you can use this water to prepare delicious hard-boiled eggs.
