Cold-pressed sea buckthorn juice is a vivid, naturally tart fruit pulp that makes sparkling drinks, mocktails and cocktails feel instantly more special.
What Is Sea Buckthorn Juice?
Sea buckthorn juice is a 100% sea buckthorn fruit pulp, not a diluted soft drink. It is thick, vividly golden-orange, and naturally intense, with a clean, citrus-like tang, gentle tropical notes, and a lightly earthy finish.
Our organic sea buckthorn juice is made from hand-picked, cold-pressed Askola berries, with no added water, sugar, flavours or preservatives. Because it contains the whole fruit pulp, it settles naturally in the bottle. Shake it well before pouring.
Its bright tartness means a little goes a long way. Dilute it, blend it with sweeter fruit or use a small measure to bring freshness and colour to an aperitif.
How Should You Drink Sea Buckthorn Juice?
For a simple everyday serve, mix one part sea buckthorn fruit pulp with around ten parts still or sparkling water. Serve well chilled over ice, then adjust the ratio to suit your taste.
If you prefer a softer drink, pair it with apple juice, pear juice, honey or ginger. These ingredients round out the fruit’s acidity while preserving its distinctive golden, citrus-like character.

Sea Buckthorn Drink Recipes
Golden Sea Buckthorn Honey Spritz
For one refreshing alcohol-free serve, shake together 25ml sea buckthorn fruit pulp and 1 teaspoon of honey loosened with a little warm water. Pour over large ice cubes, top with 200ml sparkling water and finish with a curl of lemon peel. The honey softens the tartness while the bubbles keep the drink light and refreshing.
Apple and Ginger Sea Buckthorn Fizz
Fill a tumbler with large ice cubes, then add 25ml sea buckthorn fruit pulp, 75ml cloudy apple juice and two thin slices of fresh ginger. Top with around 100ml sparkling water, stir gently and add a strip of lemon zest. The apple gives body and natural sweetness, while ginger adds a warming aromatic lift.

Sea Buckthorn 75: A Prosecco or Champagne Cocktail
This is an elegant sea buckthorn twist on a classic French 75. Shake 25ml dry gin, 15ml sea buckthorn fruit pulp, 10ml fresh lemon juice and 5ml honey syrup briefly with ice. Strain into a chilled flute or coupe, then top with around 75ml dry Prosecco, Champagne or another good sparkling wine. Finish with a fine lemon twist.
It is bright, aromatic and celebratory: the fruit pulp adds its golden colour and tartness, while the sparkling wine keeps the finish crisp. For a simpler Sea Buckthorn Mimosa, leave out the gin and lemon, then add 15ml fruit pulp to a chilled glass of Prosecco or Champagne.

Sea Buckthorn and Tonic
Build this bright long drink in a glass filled with large ice cubes: add 25ml sea buckthorn fruit pulp, 35ml dry gin and 100ml good tonic water. Stir gently and finish with lemon peel or a small rosemary sprig. The botanical bitterness of tonic and gin makes a particularly good counterpoint to the fruit’s tartness.
What Can I Mix with Sea Buckthorn Fruit Pulp?
Sea buckthorn is most rewarding when paired with ingredients that soften or frame its lively acidity. Still water, sparkling water, apple juice, pear juice, mango, banana, ginger, honey, vanilla and lemon all work well.
For cocktails, it suits dry sparkling wine, Prosecco, Champagne, gin and vodka particularly well. Avoid pairing it with heavily sweetened mixers at first: a little sweetness is useful, but the fruit should still taste recognisably like sea buckthorn.
Why Use Large Ice Cubes?
For long drinks such as a spritz, fizz or gin and tonic, large solid ice cubes are better than crushed ice. They chill the drink while melting more slowly, helping the sea buckthorn’s bright, concentrated fruit character stay clear rather than diluting quickly.
For sparkling-wine drinks such as a Sea Buckthorn Mimosa or French 75-style cocktail, use a well-chilled glass instead of ice so the bubbles stay lively.
Why Does Sea Buckthorn Juice Need Shaking?
This is a natural result of using whole fruit pulp. The denser pulp settles in the bottle over time, while the liquid rises above it. Shake vigorously before each use to bring the flavour, colour and texture back together.
It is not a fault or a sign that the product has spoiled. It is simply what happens when a 100% fruit product is left to stand without stabilisers or unnecessary additives.
Where Does the Juice Come From?
The fruit pulp comes from Töviskertem, meaning "Garden of Thorns", a family farm near Szolnok on the Great Hungarian Plain. Horticultural engineer Edit Schultz-Marinka and her family grow Askola sea buckthorn berries organically in an orchard close to the former floodplains of the Tisza River.
The berries are hand-picked and cold-pressed near the orchard, helping preserve their naturally vivid colour, fresh tartness, and whole-fruit character. Discover the variety, landscape and producer story in our guide to Askola sea buckthorn.
Beyond Drinks
Sea buckthorn fruit pulp is also useful in the kitchen. Whisk a small amount into a vinaigrette, stir it into yoghurt, use it in a dessert coulis or reduce it gently with a little sweetness for a glaze. Find savoury and sweet serving ideas in our guide to cooking with sea buckthorn.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you drink sea buckthorn juice?
Shake the bottle well, then dilute one part fruit pulp with around ten parts still or sparkling water. Serve chilled over ice, or blend a smaller measure into apple juice, smoothies, mocktails and cocktails.
Can I drink sea buckthorn juice neat?
Yes, but it is naturally thick and tart, so many people prefer it diluted. If you would like to try it neat, begin with a small measure and serve it well chilled.
Is sea buckthorn juice a concentrate?
No. This product is 100% cold-pressed whole-fruit pulp, not a sweetened cordial or a reconstituted concentrate. Its thickness and natural settling are part of its whole-fruit character.
What can I mix with cold-pressed sea buckthorn pulp?
Sparkling water, apple juice, pear juice, ginger, honey, mango and banana are all excellent choices. For an alcoholic serve, dry sparkling wine, Prosecco, Champagne, gin and vodka work particularly well with its crisp tartness.
Does sea buckthorn juice contain added sugar?
No. It is made from 100% organic sea buckthorn fruit pulp, with no added sugar. Any sugar in the nutritional information occurs naturally in the fruit.
Why is the juice so thick?
It contains the whole fruit pulp, rather than being filtered into a thin clear drink. The pulp gives it body and a naturally vivid colour; shake the bottle well before using it.
Can I use sea buckthorn juice in cocktails?
Yes. Use a small measure to add a bright, tart fruit element to a cocktail. It is especially good in a Sea Buckthorn Mimosa, a French 75-style sparkling cocktail, a Prosecco or Champagne aperitif, or gin and tonic-style drinks.
