Zwack Unicum Orange Bitter 0.5l
Unicum Orange Bitter is a bright citrus herbal bitter that combines Unicum's oak-aged depth with orange peel, spice and a refreshingly bittersweet finish.
What Is Unicum Orange Bitter?
Unicum Orange Bitter is the aperitif-style expression of Zwack Unicum. It begins with the deep, oak-aged herbal character of the original, then adds a vivid orange profile inspired by the Italian custom of serving Unicum with a fresh orange slice.
Its orange distillate and extract are made partly with peel from Sicilian Sanguinello blood oranges, often called “Etna Blood”. This distinctive fruit gives the spirit a brighter, more aromatic citrus character, layered with warming herbs, rounded oak and a clean, bittersweet finish.
Orange Bitter is not a sugary orange liqueur. It is a complex, grown-up citrus bitter for anyone who enjoys the balance of orange peel, botanicals and restrained sweetness in a well-made aperitif.
How to Drink Unicum Orange Bitter
Serve it before dinner, over ice, or use it as a lively citrus and botanical backbone for simple cocktails.
- Pour over two large ice cubes with a fresh orange slice for the classic aperitivo-style serve.
- Use in place of an amaro in a Negroni-style cocktail for a more vivid blood-orange and herbal edge.
- Make a botanical highball with 40ml Unicum Orange Bitter, dry premium tonic water and a wheel of pink grapefruit or orange.
- For a Gourmet Spritz, pour 40ml Orange Bitter over ice, add 75ml chilled prosecco and 50ml soda water, then finish with an orange slice.
- Use it with dry tonic water, soda, prosecco, gin, vodka or whisky when you want a bright citrus-and-herb dimension without excessive sweetness.
- Lightly drizzle over vanilla ice cream, dark chocolate gelato or orange sorbet for an adult dessert with a warming citrus finish.
- Use a small amount to moisten the sponge in an adult tiramisu, or spoon over a dark chocolate tart just before serving; cocoa and blood orange are a particularly good match.
Serving Tip
Chill the bottle thoroughly before serving. Orange Bitter is most refreshing when poured over fresh ice and finished with a slice of orange, whose oils gently perfume the drink as it sits.

Where Does It Come From?
Unicum Orange Bitter is made in Budapest by Zwack, the family company behind Hungary's iconic herbal bitter. Its character begins with Unicum's heritage, whose closely guarded herbal recipe dates back to 1790.
By bringing Sicilian blood-orange peel into that established botanical profile, Zwack has created a fresh, Mediterranean-inspired expression that works as both a distinctive aperitif and a versatile cocktail ingredient.
