TOKAJICUM Tokaji Furmint 'Vizsla' 2023

£12.50

Order by 2pm Monday for next day delivery.

A Tokaji Furmint with a unique label celebrating the beloved Hungarian Vizsla, this volcanic vintage shows a joyous side of Tokaj's signature white wine.

The wine was partially tank-fermented to retain the hand-harvested fresh grapes' delightful fruitiness, followed by a period of barrel ageing to add depth and refinement.

An appealing nose of white-fleshed fruit and honeyed notes. The smooth, creamy palate is dominated by peach and pear and elegantly complemented by the buttery, toasty flavours from barrel ageing. The Furmint grapes give it an excellent structure built around a vibrant acidic backbone, with the sip ending in a long mineral finish.

What is Furmint?

The Furmint variety is Hungary's flagship white grape and the backbone of the world-renowned Tokaj wine region. Known for its naturally high acidity and remarkable ability to express terroir, it produces wines with exceptional ageing potential.

Grown in Tokaj's mineral-rich volcanic soils, it thrives under the region's unique climate, where it is crafted into a broad spectrum of styles — from elegant, mineral-driven dry Furmint to lusciously sweet Szamorodni and the legendary Tokaji Aszú.
