Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos is a luxurious Hungarian sweet wine known for its opulence. This golden nectar boasts a rich honeyed aroma and a complex flavour.

Upon opening, the wine captivates you with its intense scent of honeyed sweetness, complemented by notes of apricot, candied orange peel, and fragrant forest mushrooms.

On the palate, it offers a harmonious blend of acacia blossoms, marmalade, and tropical fruit flavours.

This concentrated sweet wine achieves a perfect balance with its natural acidity, resulting in a highly drinkable vintage that features a creamy texture and a lingering finish with tantalising notes of volcanic minerals.

What is Tokaji Aszú?

Tokaji Aszú is often referred to as the "king of wines" or the "wine of kings," and it certainly lives up to its legendary status.

Born in the volcanic Tokaji wine region, this sweet wine is made exclusively from botrytized grapes, which are characterized by their intense flavour and the minerality of the terroir.

Each barrel of this golden nectar is crafted using a minimum of five puttony, the traditional term for the collection baskets used during harvest.

The flavours evolve and deepen during extended aging in oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop refined tertiary aromas.

The unmatched complexity of Tokaji Aszú, combined with its acidic backbone, provides structure and drinkability, even with its high sugar content. This distinguishes the 5 Puttonyos Tokaji Aszú from Sauternes, solidifying its reputation as one of the best sweet wines in the world.

Food Pairing

Tokaji Aszú is the perfect pudding wine, delightful on its own or paired with cakes and patisserie. It is also our recommended drink to accompany gourmet goose liver.
