Order by 2pm Monday for next day delivery.

Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos is an opulent Hungarian sweet wine. This is an elegant golden drink with a rich honeyed aroma and complex flavour of dried fruits.

As soon as you open it, the wine draws you in with its intense aroma of honeyed sweetness and notes of apricot, candied orange peel, and fragrant forest mushrooms. The palate is a complex harmony of acacia blossoms, marmalade, and tropical fruit notes.

This concentrated sweet wine is perfectly balanced by its natural acidity, creating a highly drinkable vintage with a creamy texture and a lingering volcanic mineral finish.

What is Tokaji Aszú?

Tokaji Aszú is known as the "king of wines, wine of kings", and this sweet wine speciality lives up to its legendary reputation.

Born in the heart of the volcanic Tokaji wine region, the wine is made exclusively from botrytized grapes, where the intense flavour of the ripe fruit and the minerality of the terroir are at their most concentrated.

Each barrel of golden nectar is made using a minimum of five puttony worth of grapes, which is the traditional name for the collection baskets.

The flavours beautifully combine and develop during the extended oak barrel ageing, while the wine also gains refined tertiary aromas at the same time.

This unparalleled complexity, together with the acidic backbone that gives the wine its structure and makes it so drinkable despite its high sugar content, is what sets a 5 Puttonyos Tokaji Aszú apart from Sauternes, making it the best sweet wine in the world.

Food Pairing

Tokaji Aszú is the ultimate dessert wine, perfect on its own or when paired with cakes and patisserie. It is also our recommended drink of choice to accompany goose liver.
