Hot Paprika Oil 100ml
Hot paprika oil is cold-pressed from spicy paprika seeds. This versatile condiment delivers intense, lingering heat to noodles, pizzas and savoury dishes.
What Is Hot Paprika Oil?
Hot paprika oil is a fiery seed oil made by cold-pressing the seeds of hot paprika peppers. It has a clear, ruby-red appearance, an aromatic pepper character and a pronounced heat that builds and lingers.
With a heat level of approximately 7,500 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), it is a particularly lively choice for those who enjoy spicy food.
Unlike many chilli oils, which infuse chilli flakes into another oil, this is oil pressed from the paprika seeds themselves. Its concentrated heat makes it especially useful as a finishing oil: a few drops are often enough to bring a lively kick to a dish.
How to Use Hot Paprika Oil
Start with just a few drops, then add more to taste. The oil is particularly good added towards the end of cooking or at the table, where each person can choose their preferred level of heat.
- Drizzle a few drops over noodles, stir-fries or fried rice for an intense paprika kick.
- Prepare Hungarian goulash with sweet paprika, then offer the oil at the table for anyone who would like extra heat.
- Serve chicken paprikash as usual, with a few drops of oil added to individual portions by those who enjoy a spicier finish.
- Drizzle sparingly over pizza, pasta, roasted potatoes, grilled vegetables or scrambled eggs.
- Swirl into hummus, yoghurt, sour cream or mayonnaise for a simple spicy dip.
- Add a little to marinades and dressings for chicken, pork, seafood or vegetables.
- Finish soups, bean dishes, curries and tomato sauces with a few drops for a clean, lingering heat.
Cook's Tip
This oil is very hot, so begin with a few drops and taste before adding more. For a milder dressing or marinade, mix a small amount with another cooking oil, yoghurt or a little lemon juice.
Where Does It Come From?
Our hot paprika oil is made by Rubin Paprika in Szeged, a region of southern Hungary celebrated for its paprika-growing tradition. Rubin works with regional growers and brings its knowledge of Hungarian peppers to a range of paprika products.
Pressing paprika seeds into oil makes use of another part of the pepper harvest, creating a distinctive ingredient alongside the familiar ground spice and helping make more use of the crop.
Monika selected Rubin for the Monika's Kitchen range for its paprika expertise and the flavour of its products. Discover more sweet, hot and smoked varieties in our Hungarian paprika collection.

"A ruby red oil with sparkling clarity. Fragrant and complex - and the character of the spice comes through on the palate. It is hot and potent stuff - very pure paprika heat, instantly hot on the tip of the tongue and lingering heat through the swallow. Clean and interesting oil with a lot of potential uses."

Frequently Asked Questions
How hot is hot paprika oil?
The oil has a heat level of approximately 7,500 Scoville Heat Units (SHU) and contains 500mg of capsaicin per kilogram. It delivers an immediate, pronounced paprika heat that lingers, so start with a few drops and add more only after tasting.
What does hot paprika oil taste like?
It has an aromatic paprika character followed by intense, clean heat. Its flavour works particularly well with savoury dishes, from noodles and grilled vegetables to goulash and pizza.
Is hot paprika seed oil different from infused chilli oil?
Yes. This oil is cold-pressed from hot paprika seeds, while many chilli oils are made by infusing chillies or chilli flakes in another oil. Both can add heat to food, but their ingredients, textures and flavours vary. Hot paprika seed oil is a useful choice when you want a clear oil with concentrated paprika heat.
Can I cook with hot paprika oil?
Yes. You can add it to sauces, marinades and cooked dishes, but its intense heat means it is best used sparingly. Try adding a few drops near the end of cooking or directly to the finished dish, then adjust to taste.

Can I use hot paprika oil instead of hot paprika powder?
Both can add paprika heat, but they have different textures and uses. Hot paprika powder is a ground spice you can stir into a dish as it cooks; the oil is convenient for adding a few drops of concentrated heat at the end. Begin with a small amount rather than substituting them measure for measure.
Is hot paprika oil suitable for vegans?
Yes. It is made from cold-pressed hot paprika seeds and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
How should I store paprika oil?
Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Follow the storage instructions on the bottle.
