BALASSA Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos 'Villő' 2017

£89.00

Order by 2pm Monday for next day delivery.

An award-winning 6 Puttonyos Tokaji Aszú from the exceptional 2017 vintage. Limited to only 1512 bottles made, this is a unique sweet wine for connoisseurs.

An intense nose of marmalade, peach compote, saffron and walnut. The silky-smooth palate is deep and concentrated even for a Tokaji Aszú, with rich apricot notes and ripe citrus fruit flavours accompanied by a layered botrytis character. Lusciously sweet with 247g of residual sugar, its mouth-watering acidic backbone ensures the perfect balance for a finely poised volcanic wine that is truly a once-in-a-generation experience.

Food Pairing

A wine to truly savour, you can serve it on its own after a meal, even in place of a dessert. It will also make a remarkable pairing for air-dried ham and cakes. It pairs well with blue cheeses, such as Stilton and Roquefort, as well as other soft varieties.

Balassa Winery, Tokaj

The boutique Balassa winery was established in 2005 by Istvan Balassa in the historic Tokaj wine region. Right from the beginning, Istvan, a perfectionist, was determined to produce only the highest-quality wines possible by maximising the potential of each vintage. It all starts in his vineyards with growing grapes of outstanding quality by applying a rigorous scientific approach to cultivation. He then creates each wine using artisanal wine-making methods, allowing the unique characteristics of the grape, the vineyard and the terroir to shine through in every drop.
