Zserbó is the most famous Hungarian cake, and this traditional festive treat is unmissable from dinner tables around the country come Christmas and Easter. The original recipe was created by Emil Gerbeaud, the proprietor of Café Gerbeaud.
Gerbeaud cake features layers of shortcrust pastry generously filled with an irresistible combination of homemade apricot jam and freshly ground walnuts and enrobed in the finest dark chocolate. The finished patisserie is deliciously soft on the inside, with a tantalising crunch from the chocolate coating, making this the ultimate sweet treat from Hungary.
