Order by 11am Tomorrow for next day delivery.

Pozsonyi kifli are traditional crescent-shaped Hungarian cookies with a poppy seed and walnut filling. This classic sweet pastry is a delicious treat.

The pack contains two Dios Kifli and two Makos Kifli, which are packed with either ground walnuts or ground poppy seeds combined with a mixture of raisins, dried fruits, and a touch of moreish plum jam.

Pozsonyi Kifli can be enjoyed on its own or as an afternoon snack with a cup of tea or coffee, as its shape makes it perfect for dunking. For a moment of indulgence, serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

The History of Pozsonyi Kifli

Pozsonyi kifli, known as Bratislavský rožok in Slovak and Pressburger Kipfel in German (Pozsony and Pressburg are the historical names for Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia), has a legendary origin.

After the defeat of the Ottomans at the siege of Vienna, an enterprising baker came up with the idea to make these crescent-shaped cookies inspired by the half-moon flag of their opponents, a recipe that was later taken to Bratislava, where it started a life of its own.

This sweet pastry can be considered the little cousin of the mákos and diós beigli, which are long pastry rolls filled with poppy seed and walnut filling.

Regardless of its origin story, these moreish cookies have an even greater filling-to-pastry ratio than our beloved beigli, and make the perfect sweet treat.

Nándori Patisserie

Each pozsonyi kifli is crafted at the multi-award-winning Nándori Patisserie in the heart of Budapest. Following a family recipe, a dedicated team of master confectioners expertly prepares the cakes by hand to bring you the flavours of the 'Golden Age'.

The Pozsonyi Kifli comes with a Best Before date of 14 days from the day of your purchase.
