A speciality sustainable coffee from the mountains of Costa Rica, the roasted Arabica beans bring a rich aroma and a characteristically intense flavour.

It is an easy-to-brew and versatile choice that delivers consistently excellent results, even with minimal barista skills. The beans are perfect for enjoying as a neat espresso, but they can also be used to prepare your favourite coffee drink, resulting in a smooth, balanced cup with a full body and spicy notes accompanied by hints of cocoa.

For a touch of healthy sweetness, consider serving it with a spoonful of acacia honey instead of sugar.

What is it?

Costa Rican coffee is globally recognized for its exceptional quality. Its unique character is derived from being grown at high altitudes in the lush volcanic highlands around Alajuela, Naranjo, and Lourdes.

The coffee cherries are cultivated at 1,550 meters above sea level. The fertile volcanic soil, cool mountain climate, and consistent rainfall contribute to their gradual maturation, creating a concentrated flavour profile.

The beans are hand-picked in complete harmony with nature, ensuring that only ripe fruit are selected. They are then gently washed and expertly roasted in small batches using traditional methods, allowing their authentic flavour to shine. This guarantees an artisan bean-to-cup experience, making it a favourite among coffee lovers and connoisseurs who appreciate quality with every sip.

Brewing recommendations

  • To maximize aroma, grind the coffee beans fresh before brewing.
  • Use water just off the boil (89–93°C for filter coffee and 91–93.5°C for espresso).
  • Adjust grind size for your brewing method: fine for espresso, medium for pour-over, coarse for French press.

Pro Tip: These beans shine in a pour-over or AeroPress, where their clarity and brightness can be fully appreciated.
