Mustard Oil 250ml

£6.50

Cold-pressed mustard oil is a pure cooking oil with a fragrant aroma and a mild peppery taste. The unrefined oil is best for making authentic Asian dishes.

How can I use it?

Mustard oil, also known as sarso ka tel or simply sarso oil, has a golden hue and a deliciously mild flavour with nutty notes that the Great Taste Award judges loved. This makes it a versatile pantry essential, perfect for cooking traditional Indian recipes, such as Bombay potatoes and spiced mango pickles, or for preparing curries and stir-fries. Mix it with honey and vinegar to create a potent dressing for greens and vegetables or drizzle it over roast chicken for a gourmet twist.

Health Benefits

Fresh cold-pressed mustard oil is naturally rich in Vitamins A and E, as well as Omega-3 and Omega-6 essential fatty acids. Regular consumption may reduce levels of bad cholesterol and improve cardiovascular health. A powerful anti-inflammatory, massaging painful joints with the warm oil may help reduce pain. Sarso oil can also be used to oil hair, strengthening it and giving it a natural gloss, while also potentially decreasing skin dryness when applied externally.

While most mustard oils are banned for human consumption, ours was made only from edible seeds free from erucic acid, making this safe to eat.

How is it made?

The finest, carefully sourced raw seeds are gently cold-pressed, ensuring they retain their natural goodness in full. An innovative and environmentally friendly ‘zero waste’ technology is used to make this pure oil, which comes in a recyclable glass bottle.

Comments from the Great Taste Judges:

"Lovely vivid yellow and on the palate, it delivers pleasant nutty notes—clean, fresh-tasting oil. The strength is muted, which would make it ideal for cooking, and it would work well in a salad along with a dash of good wine vinegar or balsamic. We are pleasantly surprised by its gentleness and clean flavours."
