This full-bodied Egri Bikavér Superior, sourced from the award-winning St. Andrea winery's Hangács cru, is a remarkable example of a Hungarian Bull's Blood.
This wine has a deep ruby colour. On the nose, it offers a medium-intense aroma filled with delicious, juicy fruits —it's like picking fruit directly from a tree. This fruity bouquet is complemented by hints of barrel spices, including cinnamon and cloves.
On the palate, the fruit takes centre stage, showcasing flavours of blue plum, blackberry, and black cherry. The acidity, alcohol, and tannins are well-balanced, leading to a long and satisfying finish. Overall, this is a superb Bikavér from the volcanic soil of the Hangács vineyard.
Food Pairing
This wine pairs beautifully with steak tartare, grilled meats, and semi-hard cheeses such as a Gouda-style ash cheese. It also complements rich mushroom dishes and spicy Moroccan stews like a warming tajine.
