A Hungarian Sauvignon Blanc dry white wine from the shores of Lake Balaton, crafted in a reductive New World style while maintaining its Old World charm.
This wine offers a rich and intense aroma, featuring notes of freshly cut grass and nettle. On the palate, it is vibrant, showcasing a crisp acidity and refreshing citrus fruit flavours, making it an ideal choice for summer enjoyment.
What is a Hungarian Sauvignon Blanc?
Although Sauvignon Blanc is traditionally associated with France, and more recently with New Zealand, it has found a new home in the cooler climate regions of Hungary.
When the grapes are grown in the quartz sandstone of the northern shore of Lake Balaton, they absorb the mouthwatering minerality of the volcanic terroir, which is evident in every drop of the wine.
This varietal makes a fascinating comparison with two similarly aromatic native grapes: Irsai Olivér and Cserszegi Fűszeres.
Food Pairing
It complements grilled poultry and fish dishes, salads, and pairs exceptionally well with goat's cheese.
