This elegant Hárslevelű whine wine from the volcanic terroir of Tokaj is an excellent representation of this native grape, renowned for its floral aroma.

It offers an inviting and enchanting bouquet, featuring sweet floral notes with hints of mango and ripe pear. The wine is full-bodied, displaying a rounded yet pronounced acidity. Its dominant flavour of elderflower is beautifully complemented by almond undertones, leading to a vibrant mineral finish.

What is Hárslevelű?

Hárslevelű is one of Hungary’s most celebrated white wine grapes. The name translates to “linden leaf,” reflecting its characteristic aroma, which is reminiscent of fragrant linden blossoms. This aroma is often accompanied by notes of acacia, honey, and ripe stone fruits.

Predominantly grown in the world-famous Tokaj wine region, Hárslevelű flourishes in volcanic soils and a unique microclimate. It plays a vital role in both dry and sweet wine styles and is even used to produce a stylish orange wine. The grape is frequently blended with Furmint to create complex, age-worthy wines.

Food Pairing

Enjoy it as an aperitif or paired with light mezze, such as dips, roasted vegetables, or gourmet brussels sprouts. It complements grilled poultry and pork well, and is also a nice match for fresh cheese.

Gróf Degenfeld Winery, Tokaj

In 1994, the Count Degenfeld family successfully revived their wine estate in the heart of the Tokaj wine region, ensuring that a tradition over 150 years old lives on with the current generation. Winemaking is deeply intertwined with the family's love and respect for nature. As a result, they have been cultivating their vineyards organically since 2009. The family exclusively uses native grape varieties that thrive in the unique microclimate, producing a range of single-varietal wines with award-winning credentials. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully vinified with minimal intervention. Consequently, each sip offers a taste of the authentic volcanic terroir of Tokaj.
