Egri Csillag is an aromatic, rich and vibrant new white wine blend crafted from indigenous Hungarian grape varieties. This Grand Superior from the award-winning St Andrea Winery of Eger is one of its finest examples.
Opulent nose with elegant notes of pear, peach and gooseberry complemented by white floral aromas and a hint of green herbs. Oak-fermentation and lees-ageing contribute buttery, toasty flavours. The characteristics of the terroir are echoed in notes of ripe fruits and vanilla on the palate, with an intense mineral finish. This is a sophisticated and velvety wine with a complex and refined structure.
Food Pairing
Beyond the obvious choices of fish and seafood, try pairing it with marinated pork chops or rich, creamy vegetable casseroles. Washed-rind cheese such as Epoisses and Limburger will also be a great match.
