Mad Sweet is one of the most expressive Tokaji sweet wines. Only fruit with the highest sugar content is picked to ensure the wine’s natural sweetness. It has a really fresh style with the complex fruitiness of three regional varieties – Furmint, Hárslevelű and Sárgamuskotály. The grapes are blended until the perfect combination of minerality, fruitiness and a refreshing acidity is reached in one intense vintage.

Food Pairing Recommendation

   Very drinkable on its own, but it is also an excellent dessert wine to accompany fruit tarts and cakes. It makes for a delicious addition to cheese boards, especially blue cheese including Gorgonzola, Stilton and Roquefort. It also brings out the best from goose liver, or try it with continental charcuterie for an explosion of flavour.

   Based in the scenic village of Mád in the heart of the Tokaj wine region, the winery cultivates traditional varieties on 20 hectares. Winemaker Istvan Szepsy Jr. is dedicated to showcasing the greatness of the historic vineyards and expressing this unique terroir in each bottle, an aim that has remained constant across the last 18 generations of his family. The winery is producing wines exclusively from three regional varieties and they maintain old plantations which have long roots reaching down to cracks in the stones filled with clay minerals. By using only gentle pressing and fermenting at low temperatures, they can ensure that the resulting wines have a fresh and fruity character, with the minerality of the historic crus.
