Traditionally, it was made by picking and fermenting red and white grapes together, but now it is primarily produced using red grapes, mainly the indigenous Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch). In the production of siller, the grape skins are soaked in the juice for a longer period than in rosé, resulting in a deeper colour, a more concentrated texture, and added character and 'bite'.

Food Pairing

Siller pairs beautifully with traditional Hungarian dishes that use paprika, such as goulash soup and chicken paprikash. It also complements Italian classics like pizza and pasta Bolognese. Additionally, it can be used to create a refreshing spritz during the summer months.

Serving temperature: 11-13°C

Grape variety: Cabernet franc, Syrah, Merlot, Kékfrankos

Soil type: Loess

Fermentation: Started in open vats and finished in steel tanks

Ageing: In stainless steel tanks

Alcohol content: 13.5%

Bottle size: 0.75l

Speciality: Vegan

Kislaki Winery, Balaton

Kislaki Winery was established in 2005 in Balatonboglár, along the gentle slopes of Lake Balaton's southern shore.
